Why is it the media is the number 1 outlet to place the blame? The media, television, radio, whomever else, do what they agreed to & are paid to do. The media can not be the blame for all of your issues.
Fact of the matter is, kids grow into what it is they see, as much as parents like to preach “do as I say not as I do” the reality is that is not how things work, sorry parents- it doesn’t, take my word for it.Parents want to be seen as perfect in the eyes of children but yet can’t admit when they’re wrong and have more control than they’d like to admit, if you don’t want the result of media to influence your kid stop letting it be your kid’s babysitter. Now I know your kids aren’t with you 24/7 and will still gain access, but you still can control how & what they understand – try a conversation instead of just telling them your views. Understand what they see, how and why they see it the way they do, you still have the ability to further change their view on things, there can always be two sides to the story, what the media portrays and the reality you create for them.
Don’t want your daughter growing up head of the twerk team? Well first, stop doing it yourself, then change what she sees. If you’re beating & smacking your kid whenever the mess up and not around to praise them when they are doing well what exactly are you expecting? They see an alternate lifestyle that’s definitely more appealing than you. The media cant be blamed for simply doing their job, the issue comes in the fact people are easily influenced, because some of you need to turn it down, around or off, but this whole “turn up” movement has you looking really dumb, but you do it anyway, and for what reason exactly? Now, yes, the media may have exposed this lifestyle, but they didn’t tell you to go do it, and until parents say otherwise against it, of course it seems as something okay to partake in.
Here’s where it gets really good though, your tv, radio & web pages all have the ability to change! If you don’t like whats being shown change the friggin channel! If you’re depending on the media, in any way, to have an active role in raising your kids, or to show who who/how you should be, there lies a big mistake.
