In life its not always what you know but who, and with that sometimes “the hookup” is what helps keep things in balance. I do something for you, and in return you look out for me.
Now there are times and people who do things just for the sake of doing them and its wonderful, and if that’s how you operate you should not look for anything in return from the person you’re helping, the universe will somehow repay you.
However I have realized in business and the “adult world” you gotta give a little to get a little. Now some of y’all out here doing something strange for a piece of change, and that’s not what I mean. If you have a good/service you can offer (or discount) to someone else, do so, you never know when you may be in need of something they can help with, it may not exactly be on the same level, but help is help.
Reciprocal relationships are powerful. If done effectively, helps one gain influence and access to those people who can serve as allies to advance your career.
You Forgot Your Common Sense 
I know exactly what you mean. As a business owner for many years, there is a certain give and take to business relationships. When you toe the line and don’t cut anyone any slack, you may make more in the near term but you don’t develop that first name relationship that down the road will pay you back in spades.
Exactly! Life really is one big business, you’ve gotta take care of those who will have the ability to take care of you
